A Remarkable Wine
Inspired by a Legendary Horse
Alexander the Great rode a single horse into every battle: a majestic black stallion named Bucephalus (pronounced bu-ceph-a-lus). Alexander’s steed is arguably the most famous stallion of antiquity and the ideal name for our most prized blend. In creating this wine, we honor the timeless spirit of beauty and strength.

Blending small lots from several of our hand-selected Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah vineyards creates complex and concentrated aromas of plum, dark cherry, wild blackberry, cassis, cardamom, nutmeg, sandalwood, coffee and sweet chocolate. Carefully crafted, the rich layered flavors and balanced tannins integrate beautifully for a long, complex finish.
In making the 2007 Bucephalus Red Blend we blended a significant amount of Syrah to our best Bordeaux varietal lots. The presence of Syrah in the blend adds a graceful element that takes this classic Bordeaux blend to another level. We use only our highest quality lots to create our Bucephalus Red Blend. Each of these lots are developed separately in our cellar and aged in French oak barrels carefully matched to each lot so to showcase its unique flavor character. Just before bottling these different flavor components are blended to craft a finished wine of great character, complexity and elegance. Bucephalus is a wine that displays wonderful elegance now but whose structure and complexity will continue to evolve over time. This wine should age gracefully for 8-10 years.
