Our 2009 Riesling shows elegant subtle aromas of floral sweet spice reminiscent of spring wild flowers, tamarind and citrus blossom. These aromas follow through to the delicate but complex palate where flavors of Anjou pear, white peach and lemon drop and honey linger long into the finish.
We picked the fruit for our 2009 Riesling from a little vineyard, just one half mile south west of the winery in the Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley. This is the second year we have worked with this very special vineyard lot and we are delighted with the quality. The fruit was picked by hand at day break. By harvesting early in the morning before the temperature heats up, we are able to preserve the delicate aromas and fruity flavors. The fruit was very gently pressed to avoid over extraction of astringency from the grape skins. The juice was then fermented slowly at cool temperature in a small stainless steel vat.
This wine is versatile and pairs well with lobster salad, barbeque shrimp, grilled savory chicken, and desserts such as fruit tart, crème Brule or poached pears.
