Our 2009 Pinot Grigio shows elegant aromas of peach, grapefruit, marzipan and honey suckle. These aromas follow through to a balanced palate with delicate pear and citrus flavors ending with a refreshing crisp finish.
We picked the fruit for our 2009 Pinot Grigio from a little vineyard block near the Monterey bay. Because of the cool growing region, we let the fruit hang in the vineyard until late September developing complexity of flavors while maintaining a crisp mouth feel. The fruit was picked by hand early in the morning. We like to pick in the early morning before the fog burns off and the day heats up. This preserves the delicate aromas and fruity flavors. The fruit was very gently pressed to avoid over extraction of astringency from the grape skins. The juice was then fermented slowly at cool temperature in small stainless steel vats and a couple neutral French oak barrels.
This wine is perfect for summertime dining and is a great compliment to seafood such as scallops or halibut, Caprese salad and creamy pasta dishes.
